AdvisorCensus

The advisor directory built for AI to cite.

Ask ChatGPT, Claude, or Perplexity for a financial advisor in your city. The answer names three or four firms and stops, and it builds that answer from sources it can read and check. I built AdvisorCensus to be that source. Every registered firm in the country already has a basic page on it, including every one of your competitors. The AdvisorCensus Profile is how yours earns a mention.

Claiming is free. The AdvisorCensus Profile is included with AdvisorSEO Max Pro.

43,000+

Advisory firms on AdvisorCensus. On a basic page, they all look the same to AI: a name, a city, and a few registration details. Nothing on it gives an AI engine a reason to pick yours. A profile gives it that reason: who you serve, what you charge, who your advisors are, and where else your firm shows up online.

Why I built it

I read advisor directories the way AI does. Most of what matters was invisible.

I run a fee-only practice in Nashville, so I had my own firm at stake. Before building AdvisorCensus, I went through the directories advisors already join or pay for and read each one the way an AI crawler would. The profiles looked fine to a person. To a machine, most of what makes a firm worth recommending was missing, hidden, or impossible to verify. So I built the directory I wanted my own firm listed in.

01

Pages AI can read

Several directories load profile details with scripts after the page opens, so a crawler often finds an empty shell. Every AdvisorCensus page arrives complete on the first request, with text and data versions built for AI crawlers.

02

Facts AI can check

Fees and credentials on other sites often appear with no source and no date, which gives AI little reason to trust them. On AdvisorCensus, every figure shows where it came from and when it was last updated.

03

One firm, connected

Your firm lives on Google, your website, and a handful of directories, and nothing tells AI those pages describe the same firm. Your profile connects them in the structured format AI uses to recognize one firm across the web.

AI builds its answer from what a page tells it. In a city full of basic pages, a complete profile is the one with something to say.

A finished profile

I put my own firm through it first. Here is the finished profile and my advisor page. Open a basic page for any firm in your city beside it, and the difference takes about five seconds to see.

Questions

AdvisorCensus FAQ

Does my firm already have a page?

Yes, if your firm is registered with the SEC or a state securities regulator. Every registered firm has a basic page. Search for yours at advisorcensus.com/search, then claim it for free.

Will a profile get my firm named in AI answers?

Nobody can promise that, and I won't. A profile gives AI engines the structure they read: who you serve, your fees, your advisors, and how your listings connect. AdvisorSEO Max then measures every month whether ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity name your firm and cite your site, so you are not guessing.

Who reviews what goes on my profile?

You do. Nothing on your profile publishes until your firm signs off that it has completed its own compliance review.

How does this fit with AdvisorSEO Max?

The AdvisorCensus Profile is included with every AdvisorSEO Max Pro subscription. It covers one source AI reads about your firm, and the rest of AdvisorSEO Max covers the source that matters most, your own website, with a monthly measurement of whether AI cites it.
